February 1, 2007 Western Regional Conference “People want to do business with people who care about their community.” That's the founding principle behind a unique nonprofit organization, MortgageCommunity.net, created by a founder of the Western Regional Mortgage Brokers Conference. Mortgage Community.net is an expansion of WRMBC's previous charitable activities. Over the last two years, the conference has partnered with New Century Mortgage Corporation to donate $145,000 to Habitat for Humanity. Other lenders, like Quality Home Loans, have stepped up and contributed more than $20,000 raising the total to $165,000. Two homes are already being built with those funds. The new foundation, MortgageCommunity.net has even bigger goals. It is continuing to raise money to support Habitat for Humanity, as well as other organizations that help revitalize communities and provide homes for people who otherwise couldn't afford them. WRMBC will use their annual conference to support the effort, not only with fundraising activities like a silent auction and raffle, but also with the American Dream Builders Circle, a program that will recognize and publicize those in the mortgage community who donate $1000 and above. Any organization or individual who gives enough money to enter the American Dream Builders Circle will be named in the WRMBC website, brochure and other collateral material for the upcoming conference May 5-8 at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas. They'll also get special recognition for their Mortgage Expo booths and will be included in full-page color ads after the conference. “Members of the American Dream Builders Circle will benefit both professionally and personally,” says WRMBC show director Mark Goldman. “They'll gain public recognition and goodwill, and at the same time help an important cause related to the mortgage industry.” MortgageCommunity.net has also created a unique fundraising partnership with the Arizona Association of Mortgage Brokers. A portion of the WRMBC registration fee for every Arizona member who attends the conference will be donated to the charity of the Association's choice. The Arizona Association then plans to match those funds dollar-for-dollar and will be recognized as a silver level member of the American Dream Builders Circle. “We've always believed in charities like Habitat for Humanity that help people with their dream of getting into a home,” says Jerry Craig, president of the Arizona Association of Mortgage Brokers. “MortgageCommunity.net is one way for people to see that the majority of Mortgage Brokers are caring, reputable people, who subscribe to a strict code of ethics.” The public benefits from MortgageCommunity.net as well. WRMBC is creating a website that lists companies and individuals who show they care about their communities by becoming actively involved in MortgageCommunity.net. It will also provide valuable information to help people find the best, and most reliable lending sources for homeownership. The WRMBC is an ideal venue to launch MortgageCommunity.net because of its popularity and success over the last ten years. The conference has moved from the fall to the spring, but attendees can still expect the same high level of quality education and information. “I've been going to the conference for eight years, and every year it gets better,” says Craig. “It's the premier event of any mortgage show I go to. And as an exhibitor, I'm treated like a customer rather just a money source.” For more information on MortgageCommunity.net and the Western Regional Mortgage Brokers Conference, call 877-779-7622 or visit the conference website, www.WRMBC.com or the foundation website, www.mortgagecommunity.net. |
